There's days when I wish I had the time to participate since a media presence WILL occur if it were real and they need to know how to handle that properly too. A few months ago they ran a 'gunman in the school' exercise and adding 'distraction by media' to the exercise would benefit all involved.
Most of the time media folks will gladly play by the rules provided they are told what the rules are. You would be shocked how often site commanders have no idea what to do and how much harder it make their (and our) jobs.
