If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Going through my zones, I've noticed they are confined to 16 channels. I've programmed 65 fire channels, but currently, can only access the 16 in the zone at a time, twirling the channel dial.

Can someone tell me, please, how can I expand the zone so that I can rotate [or scan] the channel selecting knob, to access the 65 fire channels I've programmed?

I've search the internet and the manual, yet have not found any instruction on how to do this.

Many thanks for taking the time to respond!

chief21,

I believe that I have the latest firmware/CPS update: 1.13

I'm unaware of the capability to add more than 16 channels to a zone in that update. Can you be a bit more specific on where one might find this?

Many thanks.

Actually, the latest user manual .pdf (included with the 1.14 FW and CPS update) states that the '878 supports up to 160 channels per zone. Not as many as mentioned in the Bridgecom web site, but certainly more than 16.
