A lithium battery exploded Wednesday morning at the General Motors Technical Center in Warren causing two injuries and a minor fire that was extinguished by Warren firefighters, Deputy Fire Chief Gary Wilkinson said.
A section of the center was evacuated as a precautionary measure, Wilkinson said. Two injured employees were taken to an area hospital where they are being treated.
“I don’t know how serious the injuries are,” Wilkinson said. “There was some fire and smoke and the entire area was evacuated as a precautionary measure."
