Explosion Reported at Columbus Police HQ

An explosion was reported at the Columbus Police headquarters around 7:30 PM tonight. There have been no reported injuries or property damage. Witnesses saw a man toss something into the sewer just outside the building shortly before the explosion occurred. The building was placed on lock-down and later evacuated. The bomb squad and SWAT are currently doing a sweep of the entire building. The perimeter was checked already and cleared.

Both the downtown and Frank Road jails have been placed on lock-down as a precaution. Several blocks around the police headquarters have been closed down. The source of the explosion has not been found as of 11:00 PM and the evacuation zone is still in effect while the building is being cleared.

They are on SWAT and 5a talkgroups. This was "A REPORT OF" not an explosion. Absolutely nothing was found. The building area is being searched as a precaution.

0100 - Building was reopened and all units cleared. Sound was believed to be from a nearby construction site.

It ended up being a battery that was being charged on a piece of equipment in the lobby that exploded. No one witnessed the explosion directly because the equipment was tucked away in some corner.
