OK, simple question... when using an external outside antenna on my base scanner should I remove the screw in telescoping antenna?

I have always done so, but thought about putting the screw in antenna back in just so I would not lose track of it.

It seems like it would be OK, but wasen't sure if it would cause some weird interference...

It is a Pro-2052 and I use a Larsen NMO 2/70 with an Antnex ground plane kit and 40' of LMR400 cable.

I am reffering to the "stock" screw in antenna that comes with the radio. I have always ran with it removed but thought of screwing it in just as a place to keep it safe.

Hey I actually read the manual and found the answer:

"To connect an optional base-station or mobile antenna, first remove the supplied antenna from the scanner."

It's really not necessary to remove the antenna. I have a PRO-2021 and PRO-2006 with the OEM antenna attached as well as an external antenna. They recommend removal for mobile installation, obviously, because it's common sense to do so.
