Do the audio boost for those hard to hear freqs. I do mine via Win500 software. Makes a huge difference. Don't need an external speaker. Have used an adapter to transmit over FM radio in the vehicle. Unless you do the wire from the ground on the bnc connector to the ground on the earphone jack, a non-amplified speaker won't work.Hello Everyone. Has anyone had any success with an external speaker or some type of lapel mic type speaker? I've tried a couple with no real success. Low audio, bassy sound, etc. Thanks! Stay safe. Henry

All you need is a single external speaker, not two (such for stereo). An external unamplified speaker CAN work, but it needs to be a relatively high impedance (something not common). In other words, you will have better luck with a single 45 ohm speaker than you will with an 8 or 4 ohm speaker.
One solution is to connect the ground from the power jack (the minus) or antenna shield to the "ground" side of the speaker. Connect the other side of the speaker to the tip connection from the headphone jack.
The other is an amplified speaker because it has a high input impedance. A PC speaker is a great choice to use.
