External Speaker Questions ?

Hello,

Have a GRE 500.

My hearing isn't all that great anymore, and I have trouble understanding, at times, the audio that comes out.

Undoubtedy a combination of the very small speaker, low quality audio in general, and my hearing.
Sure do wish they had a "tone" control".

I don't like using headphones or eabuds.

Was wondering about the practicality of buying one of those really small loudspeakers from R/S or...?
Do you think it would help ?

Can I just use these directly from the ear phone jack ?

Do I need a powered speaker ?

Any suggestions on brands and models would be most appreciated.

The best solution would be to buy an amplified speaker since the headphone jack has reduced output.

Some people on this forum are using a "paperclip modification" to bypass a resistor in the headphone jack circuit.

I used to use that paperclip mod on my Pro-97 all the time.
