Hey all,

Hope everyone had a great holiday! I have a holiday gift ? Bought a Coby 745 FM Transmitter for the car for the 96. Don't think it's gonna work, cuz most of the time I can hear the scanner sounds, but the transmissions are garbled... When I take the plug out, I can hear loud and clear. Since SM has some speakers on sale this week, I thought i might as well put out the extra bucks and just get an external speaker possibly. Is there a prefered one. I'd like not to have to mount it, and I did find this one on SM:

SP-2000 Sun Visor Mobile Speaker. That would be good as it would be more portable and out of the way!

I'm also wondering with the coby 745, maybe it could be a stereo jack going in to mono outlet. But I doubt it. Most likely it's just interference!

Will play today and see what i can come up with!

Thanks again all and hope you all had a good holiday! Have a happy and safe new year!

I have one of the Uniden Bearcat passive speakers in my Jeep for my Icom 706MKIIG. It's a very nice sounding speaker… very high speech intelligibility. I think it was $20 or so.

Thanks! Can you link me to your speakers

Found this one here for 30bucks!

MFJ Enterprises Inc.

Also found Amazon.com: Universal 3.5mm Jack 8W External Speaker Adjustable Volume For Motorola Kenwood Yaesu Icom Midland Mobile Transceiver CB Radio: GPS & Navigation for 15.99. But that might put a drain on the pro96 batts though.

Emailed MFJ to see what the return policy is. i have to use the headphone jack, so I'll need something with an amp on it with vol control!

Thanks and have a safe new year!
