Okay, I like the video portion but the host is a knucklehead and demeans everyone around him with his "omg, they put us in a siding, I don't know if we'll keep our schedule?" and his in the face of the crew in a crisis with "This doesn't look good". I suppose the layman out there has to keep their interest peaked watching this but for the rest of us, it's overly dramatized. I did see the RCL box listed in the 220mhz however.

I agree with the overly-hyper, otherwise I did enjoy the program. I did noticed that some of the crew appeared irritated over his presence.

Where was he when I had to take the M-LINDIL 12hr Red-eye over the BNSF Sioux line?

Hyper

He is somewhat hyper but like he says in the introduction, he's "obsessed with trains".

I love trains too and I could act that hyper if I was told to.

Maybe he has ADHD.

Other than being hyper, I think he is pretty cool.

The opening also says he works for the railroad. He must be a officer worker because he doesn't seem to know what he is doing on the jobsite and yes, he is a foamer.

I love this show but at times Matt can be hyper but It's good in a way because I don't lose interest in the show.

Sounds like the Monty Python sketch: "Suddenly, nothing happened!"

The host may be a conductor for Pan Am, but I suspect that he was hired to host this show because he's a good actor. A "just the facts" approach to the show would bore most viewers. By creating hype and drama, he keeps the target audience watching and keeps them coming back for next week's show.

I really like the host. He keeps things pumped up. For the average watcher, trains can be pretty boring. In fact most of the railroad employees themselves on the show are pretty boring too. The host does a good job of at least keeping the show somewhat dramatic. We railfans know he's overacting, but he provides enthusiasm for what the average watcher might consider dull subject matter. Could you imagine Jim Boyd trying to do that show (no offense to Jim)? And remember, higher ratings will keep the show going! To get higher ratings, the show has to appeal to and entertain non-railfans. A good host will do that.

I'm just now settling down to watch 3 hours of the shows that I recorded on my DVR. Sure is nice watching this in HD on the 50" Plasma! I saw the 220 MHz box as well. It must be non-licensed as I didn't see anything in the FCC files.

Indeed. was at UP's Albina Yard last night and found 217.81 sending out data from the belt pack.

LOL! Kinda reminds me of The Grateful Dead.

Driving that train, high on cocaine,
Casey Jones is ready, watch your speed.
Trouble ahead, trouble behind,
And you know that notion just crossed my mind.

This old engine makes it on time,
Leaves Central Station bout a quarter to nine,
Hits River Junction at seventeen to,
At a quarter to ten you know it's travlin' again.

Driving that train, high on cocaine,
Casey Jones is ready, watch your speed.
Trouble ahead, trouble behind,
And you know that notion just crossed my mind.

Trouble ahead, lady in red,
Take my advice you'd be better off dead.
Switchman's sleeping, train hundred and two is
On the wrong track and headed for you.

Driving that train, high on cocaine,
Casey Jones is ready, watch your speed.
Trouble ahead, trouble behind,
And you know that notion just crossed my mind.

Trouble with you is the trouble with me,
Got two good eyes but you still don't see.
Come round the bend, you know it's the end,
The fireman screams and the engine just gleams...

Speaking of Casey Jones, here's the Cannonball for real in Jackson TN.
