Can anyone explain how to use or what the difference is between the ATT settings on the EZ Scan Trunked Radio Systems Settings? Specifically, in the top box where the different systems are listed is a column titled ATT. There are 3 settings - Off-Global-Per Site. In the section below the System box under Site Details, Site List is also a ATT box.

If I want to attenuate a site do you have to set both the Main Box Att and also the Site Box to on? The instructions in the Help menu are not specific at all.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks Keith but that thread addresses a totally different issue then the one I have raised. My issue is limited to the EZ Scan software and the two places that ATT appears as it relates to trunked systems rather than objects.

If I'm reading it correctly:

The one (at the top) ATTenuates the entire system (all defined sites).

The other (bottom left under the site tab) ATTenuates individual sites on the system.

It would seem you need to set "Per Site" in order to have the site ATT take affect.

I assume this is in case you are physically located very close to one site that is too strong for the scanner but the others are normal. There are probably other reasons.

The top box (Systems) has three choices, OFF, GLOBAL and PER SITE.

OFF is self explanatory, all sites in this system DO NOT have attenuation regardless of the per site setting.

GLOBAL turns on attenuation for all sites in the system regardless of the per site setting.

PER SITE enables the attenuation setting on each site in the system independently of all the other sites.

The ATT setting in the site list turns ON/OFF the attenuation for that site, if the PER SITE option is chosen in the system box.

I hope this helps you. Then manual as well as the help file explains these settings pretty well IMO.

Thank you Troymail and Jack for your responses. You both have confirmed what I was assuming how those features work and now I am clear on them.

I appreciate you helping me out.

The nice thing about the 800 and the EZscan is that you can try things easily and if they dont' work you can return to a different setting easily

I just keep a "good backup" copy of my known good settings until I find out if some of my new experimental settings actually work. Once I see the new settings are working for me, I make a new backup.

I actually have several old setups saved in a file on my computer..............& could go back to a really old setting by copying those files to the card
