Unless things have changed in the last few years, these single letter cw beacons are located in various parts of Russia and the new republics after the soviet break-up. They are used for propogation purposes and are (in the US) a nice DX catch due to their fairly weak signals here.

It is reported to be from or near Vladivostok, I don't see it listed to be on that frequency and that is what caught my attention. It was 20db over s9 at times for nearly 30 minutes. It was easily as loud or louder than the "K" beacon. I was using a 8 element log periodic fixed over the north pole when I first heard it and switched between that antenna and a loop which it was also very loud on. I should volunteer to man the rcvrs in the early mornings more often and see what else is out there.

Strange - Perhaps they changed their transmitter/freq schedule? A logistic problem? Time will tell with more monitoring.
