I have been trying for years to determine what counties these F-KHP Zones are. I've never heard any traffic at all on these.

TG Tag
318 KHP-F Zone D Ops
319 KHP-F Zone D Car to Car
320 KHP-F Zone F Ops
321 KHP-F Zone F to Car
322 KHP-F Zone G Ops
323 KHP-F Zone G to Car

Are they even used anymore?

320 and 321 were deleted in the most recent update from the state. Either way I have no idea what they are used for.

Like many agencies, when KHP developed their radio program for the 800 system they created a radio zone for each geographic troop area and then created talkgroups to fill the remaining of the 16 channels in each zone. In practice, they rarely use anything but the primary dispatch channels- eg F-KHP-1 or F-KHP-2.

The other channels are basically placeholders that could be assigned to a special operation, manhunt etc- though those have tended to move to the Event channels so other agencies can take part.

Thanks for the information. I had often wondered if that was the intent. I've noticed more and more that most of the officers also work off the local channels as much as they do on the state channel, similar to what the TX-DPS does.
