If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am trying to setup a f121 to control an external relay using two tone decode and the horn alert output. Can someone tell me how to set this up in the programming software and also how the horn alert output works coming from the opc connnector? Does the horn alert pin go to ground or provide a voltage to control a relay?

Also, when setup to receive two tone does the speaker audio remain muted until the proper two tone is recieved? and is there a way to set up the horn alert to turn off after a certian time and then reactivate when it recieves the two tone again?

Thanks

You probably have the answers to these already.
But yes, the f121 will mute until 2 tones are received, and can be set to auto rest after a certain period of time after. The accessory connector pinout is available on Icoms website, just do a google search for the pinout. I believe it has a 12V 500ma pin that activates for a programmed amount of time for "Horn" activation. The help menu in the programming software explains it well.

The accessory pin goes LOW on activation. WARNING: it will only sink a 70mA load! If you use an electroic relay, you may have to add a 'pull-up' resistor. If you use a 12VDC coil relay, put a surge diode in the circuit.
