• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Not sure if its me or the radio on this one so here goes the problem:

I have 5 IC-F70DS (DS Digital Partial Keypad hence the S model) All 5 radios are flashed with the same firmware v2.9 and using the same software version v2.2. All 5 radio's are being programmed the same way minus the Name Text area. Channels, Zones, Banks, 2-Tone, P25 ect are all the exact same. On one radio, Just one I get a different question when I write to the radio. "MDC 1200 will not be available while you write to transceiver, Are you sure?" First off, I am not using any MDC1200 what so ever. Next, when I write to this radio it accepts the programming minus one key issue. No Digital. It won't transmit or receive P25 at all. The other 4 do it flawlessly.

The radio case with the battery off shows the EXACT same model as the other 4. All these radios were purchased together as Part of a DHS Grant. All Digital is with NAC code and in NFM. All 5 are receiving two tone pages from the new paging system but this one oddy will not Xmit P25 it clone Writes fine.

What might be the obvious answer to this dumb question? The Distributor screwed up and sent a Hybrid without a P25 board in it?

I need to know something to tell My Emergency Manager tomorrow that would account for this issue - ANY help is appreciated

Thanks - In Advance.

I don't know if this is the answer, but I looked at the software and there is a drop down on top that says Model, You should check and see that the same model number is selected for the one that does not work, as is selected for the ones that do. I do know that any changes in the selection, changes the way the rdio will operate.

Thanks for the reply.

These all use LMR (P25 Conventional) and the other 4 radio's program fine. I suspect this radio is missing a Digital card or is entirely the wrong radio. Mismarked case? I dunno. Thanks again!

i SUSPECT

I suspect your right, if the other four play nice. I would assume it save to say that the one was not setup with that capability of the board is bad. Either way the P25 is not capabale in that radio. They all say the same firmware number so my guess is the board is missing as suggested or went bad as the settings are identical unless a box is checked that was missed. Usually when doinng fleet I set up one software file and duplicate it over and change the mdc1200 number at the intial programming. That way they are all identical except for the designator. Call the suppiler and see what the deal is, maybe you missed somthing or maybe they missed somthing when selling it.
