Have been listening to OCPD at the fair on 158.7300 and Ok County on 460.3500 does any one have any other frequencies that they have found in use for the state fair makes for some interesting listening espically at night seems to get a little crazy then.

Foster--

You are correct. They have 460.375MHz and 158.730MHz linked together. This is the Police Command Post frequency.

I have not heard them this year, but EMSA usually uses a side channel at the fair. Last year, I believe they were on Turnpike (463.000MHz) simplex. You might listen to all the Med channels if you don't hear them there.

The Fire Department usually stays on the main dispatch channel. Today that was Channel 3 (453.600MHZ).

In the past, the Fair folks had a couple of UHF repeaters (464.something, if I remember right) however, this year I noticed the administration folks were running around with (gasp) NexTels.

What's the matter with Nextel? It's a phone - and a radio - in one!

And I bet is MUCH lighter and convenient than lugging around an old clunky Motorola MT500. :)

Really though - why the gasp?

Unmonitorable..

hehe

I carry one with me everyday...I do not like Nextel. The only problem I can honestly tell you I'VE had is that I can't hear everyone else when I need to. Instead, it's one on one. Now relying on one person to communicate with everyone is a trick!

Aw come on, you can't monitor digital over TDMA with a RS pro-27?! :) LOL

Nextel can set up talk groups if you need them. DC works just like trunked radio and you're essentially making i-calls all of the time if you're just doing one-to-one conversations. Talk with your Nextel representative and they'll be happy to help you get it set up.
