Fairfax County Help--really need a favor.

So, this is for all the Locals in the area. I have an issue. I am up from Charlottesville, my wife and I just moved there, but we are leaving from Fairfax County Friday for a vacation. I brought my scanner(996T), but my wife seemed to have misplaced my serial port cord for programming the scanner.

So If anyone wants to let me borrow their cord for the 996T, I will pick it up and drop it off thursday. I really just need it to program systems in South Carolina, which is where we are driving to this friday.

I know this is kinda odd...but I am just pretty desperate right now, the closest store right now doesn't even have the USB cord. And any delivery for the cord will take too long, seeing as we leave friday morning.

try a computer store like CompUSA or general store like Wal-Mart, Staples or like. I think the Radio Shack 9-pin serial cable doesn't work with it. someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have the serial cable for the 996 that came with mine. I never use it because I have a USB-to-serial cable. If you don't mind driving to Charles Town WV (about 45 miles from FFC) it's all yours. However, with the cost of gas you might be able to save money by going to one of the stores previously suggested.

Try MicroCenter on Nutely Street in Farifax County. I assume the 996 cable is the same as my 396 cable (nothing more than a digital camera type cable.)

The 396T and 996T cable are the same. I am in Fairfax County around Springfield and travel to Manassas all the time. (I-95, I-66, 7100 the Parkway) I have two cables and willing to help you out if you have not found anyone yet.
