Patrol Bureau Commander—Division I

The following radio and CAD designators are to be used by patrol personnel. Shift identifiers will be used at all times as part of the mobile unit designator. The shift identifiers are as follows, except where noted below:

A–Midnight and Early Midnight
B–Day Work
C–Evening
D–Early Day Work
E–Early Evening

A representative sample of the Mobile Unit Designators for patrol personnel (officers, field unit members, sergeants, second lieutenants, assistant station commanders, and station commanders) is provided in Appendix I to this SOP.

Patrol Second Lieutenants
Radio: "Car" + station number + shift identifier
CAD: "0" + station number + shift identifier

Additional second lieutenants working the same shift would replace the shift designator with "D" or "E."

Patrol Sergeants
Radio: "Car" + station number multiplied by 10 + shift identifier
CAD: "0" + station number multiplied by 10 + shift identifier

Additional sergeants working the same shift would be numbered consecutively.

Patrol Officers

Area Cars

Radio: "Scout" + patrol area + shift identifier
CAD: "Patrol Area" + shift identifier

Second unit in a patrol area: Substitute "5" for third digit in the patrol area.
Radio: "Scout" + first two digits of patrol area + "5" + shift identifier
CAD: First two digits of patrol area + "5" + shift identifier

Unit assigned to two or more areas simultaneously shall use the designator for the lowest numerical patrol area assigned. The Public Safety Communications Center shall be notified in all cases of multiple core area assignments. Core areas are determined by the first two digits in the three-digit designator.

Radio: "Scout" + "9" + station number + a consecutive number beginning at 0 + shift identifier

Thanks. I saw this years ago in my local library's copy of the FCPD SOP's... went back recently to make photo copies and they had removed this section of the SOP.
