Fairfay County doing a DRILL

Around 10:35Pm Fairfax announced that they were doing a DRILL. They sounded a regular box alarm for a fire in a building @ Old SpringHouse Road and the Capital 1 building. (This incident was on 4G) As the incident got to a start and the firefighters were lying out lines on the 2floor (might have been 3rd floor) ON the HQ Dispatch MOT(16016) They announced that a shooter on the roof of the building shooting and there was victims in the stairwell on the 5th floor injured from a grenade….They had all the firefighters evacuate the building and other on the 5th flood and up take cover. The HQ had its X-RAY units (ERT) all ready to go up. . . .

ANYWAYS I’m glad that the Fairfax Police & Fire are training in complex situations. Just listening to this sounds a little frightening. Does anyone know anything about this.

I heard bits and pieces of this last night, too. (I'm a volunteer in Fairfax County), but I couldn't listen to it all as I was on a standby in a noisy environment and had to monitor another channel most of the time.

I wasn't aware of the drill until I heard it dispatched, but then again, it was on the opposite side of the county from me.

I was one of the dispatchers working during the drill the other night. It was a joint Fire Dept/PD drill. Other than what you heard there is'nt much else to tell. It was a planned drill but the FF's had no idea what the drill entailed. The police SWAT team was also invloved. The drill was a building fire and when the FF's went in they located several people who were shot then found out there was a shooter still in the building. Had this been real life there would be a lot more dead people.....including firefighters.......let's hope they learned something.
