Falls Church is in Independent City and therefore has its own Sheriffs Office.

However, I cant find freqs or TG for it anywhere. Other parts of Falls Church appear in the RRDB under various Conventional and Trunked entires in Arlington, Fairfax, and Falls Church. But no sheriff entries. Anyone know where to find info for the Sheirff ?

not all independent cities have their own sheriff's office. The cities of manassas and manassas park are served by The Prince William County Sheriffs Office because they dont have their own courts. Falls Church is part of the 17th Judicial District which covers Arlington County and the City of Falls Church so its possible they are served by Arlington County SO

The Sheriff is a state constitutional officer elected by City of Falls Church citizens. The Sheriff's Office provides court security and prisoner transportation in addition to serving civil warrants and legal notices, as mandated by the Virginia Constitution and the Virginia Code. The Office works in conjunction with the Police Department in the issuance of traffic summonses, traffic control, special events, and training exercises. The Sheriff's Office also provides fingerprinting services for residents, child safety seat checks, and child fingerprinting, by appointment only. The Sheriff's Office has one full-time Chief Deputy, two full-time Deputies, and an Administrative Assistant who works 35 hours a week. On court days, five part-time and 15 auxiliary deputies are available to provide courtroom security for the General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.

lemish-

I am aware that the office of the sheriff is a constitutional office. I am also in law enforcement. I just thought that since manassas and manassas park do NOT have their own sheriff the same might be true for falls church. Obviously i stand corrected. Best of luck in your hunting

Falls Church Sheriff deputies use the Falls Church PD talkgroup to communicate. They do not have a seperate talkgroup all to themselves. There are only a few of them and some citizen volunteers with the sheriff office. You won't hear a lot of radio traffic from them at all.

I believe they use the Falls Church Police Channel 1 talkgroup on the Arlington Co. analog trunked system. I think their unit numbers are in the 700s.

Here is the plan for system 820, All Sheriff Units are 700 designators. There are plans to move to System 1CA in several months using the same alpa tags with different talkgroups....and yes these are the actual alpha tags:
FLSCHR-1 POLICE DISP 859
FLSCHR-2 POLICE TAC 85B
FLSCHR-3 POLICE CIB 85D
FLSCHR-4 SHERIFF 85F
