Family Safety Day 2006 is a great opportunity to meet police and firefighters, learn how to "stop, drop and roll" and so much more! There will be free food, games and great prizes too. Chucky and Angelica from the Rugrats will join the fun. This event is sponsored by the Partners for Child Safety, an organization formed by Children’s Hospital, Kohl’s Department Store and the National Safety Council, Greater Omaha Chapter, which provides child safety education to the metropolitan Omaha area.

Ya know, I wish more agencies would do stuff like this. Even if it was just a general "meet-n-greet" at the Police Station or something. Maybe it would get some of the bad vibes away from some of the police departments in this area*.

Yes, I'm aware I'm not from Nebraska. :p

*-check out the Bloomington newspaper and you'll see what I mean.

Yeah I think it's a great idea, plus it gives people the opportunity to see the equipment and learn why agencies do things the way they do, or ask a question perhaps they've had about something in the past.

( as well as giving a chance to take pix of equipment, radios, etc. )

Good PR all the way around.

I live in the city Denham Springs and our police, fire, sheriff and
Acadian Ambulance service do it on the National Night Out Against
crime. I used to live in Baton Rouge and they would do theirs too.
But they would not do theirs on the National Night Out Against crime.
