The Far Hills Race Meeting Steeplechase event was held today. The event attracts thousands and naturally is supported by large contingent of law enforcement & EMS support units. Today I happened to get caught in some of the traffic and monitored EMS operations on 851.5125 with CTCSS 156.7. I Know its one of the UTACS. Unknown if this was a EMS task force operation or not- but it sounded like it. The event is kind of synomious with alcohol consumption and today's monitored activity seemed to support this. I had good reception on 851.5125 near the event but noted that it rapidly feel off only a short distance away, I'm guessing a temporary type antenna install for the event?

I didn't try to grab any PD activity so I'll turf that off to anybody else who may have monitored today?

Law enforcement Communications were conducted on New Jersey State Police B-2-8. Command post Channel 8 ... Also probably on Somerset County OEM frequencies which are encrypted... In years past they have used 800 megahertz National inter-agency Communications frequencies for short distance point-to-point comms

Just letting you know (and not being critical) 851.5125 is an 800mhz channel. It is commonly known as 8TAC91. The UTAC's are UHF (450mhz range) only and would not be on 800mhz.

No antenna was installed, completely simplex for EMS Operations. FirstNet EPTT was also being used as a backup/testing as well.
