Farmington PD and Fire

Is it possible to receive Farmington PD and Fire with a discone antenna from Newington with antenna height at about 20 ft or is the mountain in the way for proper signal to reach Newington , thanks for any help on this.

You don't say what state you are in but I'll assume CT.

Yes it's very possible as long as the antenna is unobstructed. ( I am in the Cromwell area and receive them.)

If you have a "mountain" between your location and Farmington's transmitter site it could very well block reception. It depends on the height of their transmit antenna and how high the mountain is.

I believe both are up on the shorter tower on Rattlesnake Mtn. If so, you should have no issues hearing them with a handheld and a OEM antenna.
If you can see the blinking lights on the big tower, you should get the FD. If you see both towers, you should get both signals.

Thanks for all the help on this, seems I can hear Farmington just fine, also some Avon although not very well for Avon because of their location.
