We have confirmed that a U.S. Mail truck was the vehicle involved (resident delivery type).

We have confirmed that an adult male was the victim pronounced dead at the scene.

Subject: Car vs. Bicyclist / Possible fatal injuries

Colorado State Patrol investigators are responding to the 16000 block of W.
32 Ave near McIntyre St. on a report of a car vs. bicycle crash. The initial report indicates that there may be fatal injuries involved.

JEFFERSON COUNTY – The Colorado State Patrol says a man in his 50s was killed Saturday afternoon when a postal worker crashed into him with her truck.

Troopers say the man was riding his bike along West 32nd Avenue, near McIntyre, around 5:30 p.m. when a woman driving a postal truck crossed the yellow line and hit the bicyclist. She then swerved and the postal truck rolled about 40 feet, according to troopers. She was taken to the hospital for treatment. The woman's name and condition were not released.

Investigators have ruled out drugs and alcohol as being factors in the case. They are looking at whether the woman had a medical condition or if the truck malfunctioned.

The bicyclist's name has not been released, although the CSP says he was from Lakewood. He was wearing a helmet.

West 32nd Avenue was closed from McIntyre to the Coors plant in Golden after the incident.

No other information was available Saturday night.
