Happened sometime before 5AM this morning at MM 327 westbound under the Allendale Rd. overpass. Involved three vehicles including 2 tractor trailers. One person has died. Been on news all morning. Both directions shut down for hours, at last report eastbound was open, but westbound was still shutdown from Mid-County to Valley Forge interchange. Listened after 6 and heard little traffic on it. what channels and freqs were used?

Early indications show the driver of the fed ex tractor trailer may have been the fatality..obviously being turnpike property, the investigating authority will be state police troop T, king of prussia..159.XXX...may be quite some time before traffic clears, since death was involved..the extra volume will no doubt keep psp phila busy since the detour includes 476 and the schuylkill expsy...what an unfortunate mess.

Fatal accident shuts westbound Pa. Tpk.

By Peter Mucha

The driver of a FedEx tractor-trailer died this morning in an accident on the westbound Pennsylvania Turnpike betwen the Mid-County and Valley Forge interchanges.

As of shortly before 8 a.m., the road seemed unlikely to reopen soon, since the tractor-trailer was still "connected ... to a crumpled Dodge pickup," according to Rick Freas, 38, a tow truck driver from Valley Forge.

"They just removed the body a few minutes ago," he said.

"The cab is completely crushed in," he said of the FedEx truck.

The accident, which occurred at 3:53 a.m., also involved a second tractor-trailer, state police said.

The driver of the pick-up truck was injured.

Traffic on the southbound Blue Route (I-476) was slowed as well, because of motorists being detoured from the turnpike.

The eastbound turnpike was also closed because of the accident until about 6:30 a.m.

Four state police cars, four tow trucks and three fire trucks were at the scene, near a shopping center with a Cosco, Speas said.

Yep...still lots of traffic on the incident on 159.075, which is the Turnpike frequency from the Bowmansville patrol area on east.

Heard the news choppers busy all morning on their UHF freqs and also coordinating with each other on 135.975 to avoid and mid-air mishaps.

159.075 covers essentially from the Morgantown interchange east to NJ and then north to Lansdale. King of Prussia barracks is the only patrol station covering that area. Bowmansville covers west of the Morgantown area using the District 3 Repeater.

After initial comms with the turnpike on 159.075, any fireground activity will take place on the local system used by the fire companies...in this case it would have been Montco's trunked system and/or their simplex fireground channels.
