A Ft. Carson soldier died in a car crash during a high speed chase in Colorado Springs early Sunday morning, Ft. Carson officials say.
Two other people were taken to the hospital by ambulance. None of the victims have been identified by the State Patrol or Ft. Carson yet.
According to Ft. Carson Police on scene at South Circle Dr. and Janitell Rd., the chase started on post. Police tried to stop a suspected drunk driver. The driver refused to stop so Ft. Carson Police chased the car off post and into the south side of Colorado Springs. Speeds were estimated between 80-100 mph, Ft. Carson Police say. The driver ran into a light pole and then into another car. The soldier was pronounced dead on scene.
The accident closed S. Circle Dr. in both directions between Janitell Rd. and Monterey Dr. for over 5 hours Sunday morning.
