Received word that one of the original members of the Radio Communications Monitoring Association (RCMA), Ed Sirovy, N9UNP, SK, "IL-004" formerly of Westmont, IL passed away on February 24, 2017. He was born October 17, 1935, and lived to age 81 years old. "Father Ed" as he was affectionately called by many CARMA members, was a wealth of knowledge of the City of Chicago, including but not limited to "The Chicago Fire Department," CTA, O'Hare and Midway Airports, and all sorts of transportation and communications systems.
Ed hasn't been around for several years, but he did attend CARMA meetings on a regular basis, and always had tons of information to provide to the membership. Ed also sent out newsletters, kept a plethora of envelopes self-addressed & stamped by members. You best had sufficient postage and envelopes, otherwise you would not get the latest news and frequencies from the huge compendium Ed had stored. This was way before there was an Internet, so what you didn't glean from a meeting, you received from Ed.
We don't know any further information, who his heirs or beneficiaries are, but I would be interested if anyone knows if Ed has any living relatives, either Chicago-metro local or otherwise.
