    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Faulty Fed Sig Informer?

Hi all,

We have a system built in the station that consists of an Informer in a cabinet with its power supply, one for its relay and one for a timer relay. Wires run out of this to an amplifier and the others head to close a NO circuit that controls LED lights throughout the building.

Every time I test the system by dropping a single tone on the training channel it works perfectly, however reportedly works intermittently when dispatch tones it.

Apart from RF issues (It has a great antenna on a mast) has anyone had issues with an Informer that behaves similar to this? All wiring is tested and patent.

Any ideas?

I don't have any informer background, just RF. These tests can help isolate the problem to the unit of the RF portion.

Have you tested with the antenna that came with the unit? If that's not possible due to the mounting position how about a mag mount?

Is dispatch toning on the training channel or the working freq?

Can you monitor the receiver audio with a butt set to see how the audio tone sounds?
