I am trying to create a favorites list on my HP-1 that includes just 4 counties from Michigan.
I know how to create the list no problem, until you get to the state wide
"Michigan's Public Safety Communications System MPSCS"
I can pull out of this list the counties that I want to monitor, but the way the list is made up, the TOWER SITES are all listed towards the end of the list. It appears that the HP-1 scans ALL of the tower sites but only pays attention to the ones that you have selected to listen to either by service type or by range.
This causes the scanner to spend way too much time scanning towers that would never be used for the 4 counties I have of interest.
Is there a way to find out which towers are used in the counties I want to listen to and delete the rest of them?
I have tried this hit and miss but I am not sure which ones I can do away with.
While I realize this is a STATE WIDE system, would have been nicer if it were broken down by county.

I'm guessing that the site names don't give enough info that you can tell where they are.

This lists which are in the county and has the same name as in the HP.

Michigan's Public Safety Communications System (MPSCS) Trunking System, Statewide, Multi-State - Scanner Frequencies

I don't see a map - in Ohio for MARCS there are site maps.

You could have location enabled for the FL and limit that way. I do the no location and delete all I do not want when I'm at home.

If you click on the link labeled "RR Locations", just under the heading for System Frequencies, that will show you locations.

However, a much simpler way is to pull up the system's database page.
Now, in the Sites section, click on the County heading.
That will sort the sites by county name. You can then see which sites are in the counties of interest to you.

Since, when you Append the system, it pulls all the sites, you'll want to trim it down to size. You can do that in the main screen, without going into the "edit Favorites List" mode.

Click on MPSCS in the left side window of the main screen.
The right side will then show all the various department categories (agencies, counties, cities, towns) as well as sites.
You can select a range of contiguous ones by holding down the <Shift> key, and clicking the first and last one in the group, to highlight them.
Delete by either <Right> clicking, and select 'Remove" from the pop-up menu, or simply hit the Delete key. Either way, you'll get a pop-up asking you to confirm you want to remove (delete) them.

You can clear them out fairly quickly this way, both sites out of range, as well as "departments" that are either out of your area, or not of interest.

Steve, are you talking about the frequencies listed on the RR database (WEB SITE) or the frequencies that are pulled into the sentinel software?
I have ARC Patrol as well and I know that allows to pull direct from the RR data.

Both are the same data. RR feeds Sentinel -names are even the same.

And Thanks Steve - Forgot about that one (then I know where all the counties are in Ohio by name).

Thanks guys,
I used the WEB based RR data to list the "SITES" by county location, and pulled just those sites into ARC patrol. I was then able to select just the counties I wanted from the MPSCS section, along with the Conventional services for each of my surrounding counties. Not sure if I got the correct ones for the Michigan State police, but chose the ones for the THUMB area, so I will see.

Edit:
I think I got it right this time.
When running off the MAIN data base and range set to 30 miles it would attempt to load over 1500 channels with just the Dispatch services selected.
Putting just the 6 counties I want into a favorites list has reduced this to 207. And I am hearing the State Police for this area as well.

Thanks for getting me pointed in the right direction.
