I am fairly new to this so I am asking or your help. I have a RadioShack PRO-97 Multi-system Trunking Scanner and I am trying to find the frequencies for my county on the RR Database. I am confused because it does not show the frequencies but some other type of displays that are not like other counties that I have viewed before that show the actual frequency. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks a lot in advance.

There are no conventional frequencies listed under Fayette County.
It looks like all public safety operate on the newer trunked system.

You need to go here for the Fayette County trunked system:

http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=3619

Program in all of the frequencies listed there in MOT mode and set up the bank you put it in to a Motorola trunked system.

The easiest way to do it without programming it all by hand. Is to get a programming cable and spend $25 on the Win97 software program http://www.starrsoft.com.

Then donate $5 to this site and that will open up the ability to download the trunk system information directly to your Pro-97. It will save you a lot of time and effort.

The Lexington PD is still on VHF conventional frequencies. The Fire Department and many other government agencies, including the University of KY are on a large EDACS trunked system. The information for these frequencies and talkgroups is CORRECT in the Radio Reference Listings.

All the trunked system users are listed here:

http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=501

All the conventional users, including Police are listed here:

http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&ctid=1022

This information listed here is accurate for now. The Police are planning to eventually move to a digital system in the future, but for now, all local PD and FD voice traffic is analog.
