Hello:

I want to purchase a scanner but not sure which one to get. Since I have children driving on the roads, an elderly Mother that lives near by, etc. I want to stay informed of police, fire, and rescue activity in my town (Peachtree City, GA) and all of Fayette County. It is my understanding that the entire county system is "trunked" but I see that options on scanners that include trunked, double trunked, and triple trunked. What's the difference and how can I tell which one to get? Your help is appreciated!

Mike, one thing you will need to know is more about the precise systems they are using (i.e. County S.O. versus city police, etc). An excellent source for this in the Atlanta metro area is www.scanatlanta.com . You wil also find some great info here at RadioReference.com if you search around.
