I see that the city of Fayetteville, has added the emission designator of 8K70D1W to their 800 MHz license. Likewise, they are deleting their analog emission codes. Have they gone Project 25 yet, or are they still on their old Type-II system?

Fayetteville applied to the FCC for an STA, so they can begin using their new radio system. Given the licensing structure, it would appear that this will be a three-site simulcast TRS. The STA will give them permission to commence operations immediately once issued, while they wait for the permanent license to be issued by the Feds.

The new FCC license was issued for this radio system. Keep your ears open, as the new system may come online at any time now. Here is the FCC license WQOG442. It will be interesting to see if this new P25 TRS is part of AWIN, or a stand alone system?

The closest tower was site #3, (I-540 and US 62) and 854.2125 was the control channel all day. There is a trunking control channel on 857.2375 but it is not P-25. It might be the control channel for the old system, I have not yet looked.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

The new Id's are in the 52***'s. 52645 heard testing. 52613 heard park patrol past few days. Think the first id is water. Sure hope we don't have encryption to deal with. So far everything I've heard has been in the free and clear so far.

Fayetteville AWIN Site

I monitored the Control Channel for the three site simulcast for a bit today...

Control Channel is 854.2125
Alternate Control: 854.9875

Three other channels were active and each carried voice and data traffic:
855.2375
856.2375
857.2375
It is in Zone 1 (north zone) and site neighbors are 29, 30, 31, 32, 40 and 64.
It did not CW ID while I was monitoring.

Looking at the affiliation logs it appears that they currently have the site set to deny users outside of the Fayetteville RID and talkgroup ranges from affiliating.

The talkgroups affiliated with the site while I was monitoring:
52601
52603
52609
52611
52613
52615
52617
52619
52621
52623
52629
52645
52665
52667
52671
52681
52701
52703
52801

I do not know what departments are associated with each talkgroup- I was looking at control channel data only and not listening to the voice traffic.
I was using Pro96Com Version 1.9.7 build 172 connected to a Pro-106.

Fayetteville Fire went on line this afternoon. All radio traffic is on new system. City depts have been online for bout a week. Police should b online next day or two. The new towers have great coverage of the city.

Hopefully they don't turn into Shady Springdale and scramble every thing. We'll see.

Glad I bought a 396! haha.

I'm kind of sad that I can't scan Fayetteville PD with my old analog radios any more....

....but the signal improvement is AMAZING. From my home off Wedington Drive, I used to have to drop squelch to zero to track the old trunked system, maybe getting one bar if I'm lucky. This new system is full scale even with my scanner stuck in a metal box! Also very few users have good audio levels, they're all either whispering or blowing out the mic. Some tuning will be needed.

Looks like fpd dispatch and records is the only channels that are not encrypted. Ch C -H all encrypted. O well disp is good enough for me. Coverage is amazing. Fire is lil dif no actual disp tones r audible only alert tone and voice can b heard dispn calls.

nope you'll need a scanner off this list

Digital Scanners

Or, I think you can set it up as a type2 trunked system and use a P25 audio decoder to recover audio. but thats a big pain in the butt.
