I want to search the FCC's antenna tower web site. But it doesn't work for me.

http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/AsrSearch/asrRegistrationSearch.jsp

No watter what I type in, when I click "Submit", the page redraws either identically or almost identically. There is never any data or any way for me to see data. I can't figure out what is happening.

I turned off popup blocking. I've tried using Microsoft Internet Explorer as well as Mozilla browsers. I have tried a different computer. I tried yesterday and several times today. Still no data. Somewhere else on the site it states that the antenna application is working.

Since this is a new site to me, I don't know what is supose to happen. Even if I enter "Houston" and "Texas" in the middle of the right side I would expect to get something.

Can someone tell me if my computer is messed up or is the site messed up. Or what?

What about for those towers that are standing that aren't listed/registered with the FCC?

There's one near a hospital that's not quite tall enuff to require a light on it at night. However, it's at just the right height, that if a helicopter is inbound or outbound they might not see it.

The bottom line to a tower being registered is that it has to trip the magic 200 foot elevation above the ground. After that it has to be registered and have lights.

As for the tower near the hospital and helicopters, I won't bet on it, but there is a good chance the heliport probably isn't registered. Once that is done all sorts of things can and will take place. What your decribing is a flight safety hazzard and should be taken up with the FAA regional office.

If there is a problem there, I am surprised that the pilots haven't done some complaining already.

There is also something that the local public municipality could do. In Louisiana, just north of New Orleans, they have a mosquito abatement program run by the Parish there. The aircraft fly at about 150 to 200 feet off the deck spraying at night. All the unlit cell towers were becoming a safety hazzard to them. So the Parish instituted a zoning change that required any tower over 160 feet to be lit at night. This even covered existing towers. All the cell companies had to go back and retrofit all the towers with lights.

Maybe the hospital should get involved and together with the pilots come up with a solution.

The medical helicopter companies in the area are working on things from their end.

As for the helipad not being registered, you would think that all medical helipads are exempt from having to 'register' as most of them are usually portions of unused parking lots and do not have any radios/frequencies associated with them.

There are a lot of towers popping up all over the greater Cleveland area and not many of them are listed in any databases. I can think of at least 10-12 in my home city alone and only 3 are registered with the FCC database.
