I just moved a couple of weeks age, and today I went to update my FCC record. It was already changed. I figure the only why they caught wind of it was through the USPS change of address I submitted.

Is that normal?

Cheers!

Funny, I moved 8 years ago. They still don't know. GARY N4KVE

Me either, they don't appear to be too concerned and that's fine with me.
Now, if the IRS would only forget my address...

Address change

You can change your address at the FCC site. If your address has changed you should update it.

IN my case, I foolishly chose to use my callsign as my avatar, or name on all the forums I participate on. My 2 hobbies are radios, & guns. I don't need to have hundreds of people looking up my address on QRZ. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do when I have to renew my license. GARY N4KVE

Thanks, I didn't know that. I thought the address had to be the actual physical location of the station, which isn't at the Post Office. That's what I'm gonna do. GARY N4KVE
Just somewhere you can receive mail, the FCC only gets upset when they try to send you a letter and it gets returned to them. Oh and it has to have USPS service and be within the FCC's jurisdiction, no northern canada mailing address for a US license.

§97.23 Mailing address
Each license grant must show the grantee's correct name and mailing address. The mailing address must be in an area where the amateur service is regulated by the FCC and where the grantee can receive mail delivery by the United States Postal Service. Revocation of the station license or suspension of the operator license may result when correspondence from the FCC is returned as undeliverable because the grantee failed to provide the correct mailing address.

The link ND5Y provided will do what you want (also renew online, etc.) generally at no cost for regular call signs, renewals for vanity call signs do cost extra however.

One thing though, you need your FRN and a valid password to use the site to make changes. These are both real simple though since if you have a ham call sign, you have an FRN (search your call here -> License Search <- to find yours if you don't know it). To get your password, use the "Forgot Password?" link to reset it to something unique (note the password rules or your new PW may get rejected and you'll need to try again).

Also note that the leading zeros ARE important on your FRN. "12345" won't work, while "0000012345" will.

You may associate multiple call signs with a single FRN, which makes things easier for you to control them (by miltiple call signs, I don't mean your and your spouse's, I mean your ham call sign and your GMRS call sign). By associating them you can easily make changes to all of them without multiple logins (and multiple password resets trying to remember which PW goes to which FRN). While many of us hams only have the single license, many others use multiple services and have multiple licenses.

I moved. I then went to FCC wireless site to update my address, but it was already changed.

It must be FM.

An FCC Form 605 was received by the FCC on 6/27/2012 requesting an Administrative Update to your license. The form may have been submitted by you or it may have been submitted by some other organization on your behalf. I can't tell from the form. It's possible that you have subscribed to a service, maybe with the ARRL or W5YI, that automatically submits address changes for you.
