FCC Database and the NSRS

ACK! What a sea of information to wade through. Plus being new at this doesn't help.

If I want to search for a call sign or a frequency in the database why is some listed as YP (what I think I'm searching for on the NSRS) and others are MO or MB? Even frequencies listed in this websites DB and using the frequency I'll get a variety of types of sites. So far the best I can sumize is that the lower power output sites aren't really part of the trunked system, yes???? ie 100 watts = NSRS 30 watts = local older DOT trunked???

Also Iceman47 indicated he is listening in on 810Mhz which is a low output site at 30 watts. Yet in this RR database the freq's accosiated with the 810Mhz aren't listed as part of the NSRS.

Can someone help me make sense of this, thanks!

I'm certainly no expert on the FCC database, but the YP and MO stuff is the type of license issued. YP being for Public Safety trunked in the 800 mHz range. (MO is mobile transmitter only , I think.)

When I did my searching regarding the Tahoe site on Washoe Co. I found other combinations of the actual frequencies in use associated with other systems, such as the Incline Village site, Crystal Bay site, neither listing actually containing a complete listing of frequencies in use. So who knows....

I most probably errored by bringing up 810 Mhz. Freqs.
The 810-812Mhz are the mobile frequencies for NHP and there would be no point in listening to them.
They transmit on these frequencies at 50 watts with 3Db Gain Antennas giving an Effective Radiated power of 75 Watts.
Programing these frequencies will do no good.
I only program the site frequencies in the 850-860 range and to listen to a trunked system only the tower frequencies need be programmed.
Sorry about the confusion.
If you look in the FCC data base you will find several call signs that are for the mobile frequencies in the NSRS.

Naw I figured it out. Ther is tons of low power mobile freq's in the database though. Course if you are hearing anything on it and your driving, you may want to look around.
