I've been meaning to do this for a while but tonight was the night.
I happen to be from the same town as the FCC Chicago Field Office (which oddly isn't in Chicago) and, following my graduation, I've recently moved back home for a while. I've noticed the antennas on the office building and have been pretty impressed. This evening, I rode my bike over and snapped a few shots. Here's the highlights for display and discussion.
The large log periodic is obviously from a different angle but turned out a lot better and shows more detail. I didn't bother rotating it but it is actually pointed in roughly the same direction as the yagi on the other truss which is itself roughly in the direction of Chicago (southeast). It's actually a bit higher than the other antenna truss.
It's a little hard to see here but there's a second, smaller yagi at the very top of the photo.
I'd estimate the discone elements are about 6 feet tall and looks pretty sturdy. No comment on the hanging wire. Enjoy!
