FCC License Search

I just recently got a 396, and have had several Close Call hits. I have tried using the FCC and RR database lookups on the states page, yet they come back with no results for my home state.

When I query directly into the FCC ULS, I get hundreds of results nationwide (some I can tell are Texas companies by name), but it doesn't show county/state of the license. If I run a GeoSearch on FCC ULS it takes a long time to receive response.

Is there a problem with the RR FCC search? It seems the false negatives are high as of late.

The FCC database geographic search is much smarter than the RR Database. It appears that the FCC database does a geographic search based on latitude and longitude on the license. The RR database just looks at the state assigned to each frequency; in many cases (especially for mobile-only frequencies), some frequencies are not assigned to a county/state on the license and thus will not show up on the RR database search. Yes, this is annoying but implementing a search by latitude/longitude is much more complicated than just searching by state.
