And I am praying that they jump right past 12.5 and go straight for 6.25 NXDN.
No sense inputting off the inevitable.

I really hope they stick with narrow band and none-digital.The rail industry is already hurting and then you tax them with going to nb plus digital radios.

Well, thats what Im saying. The FCC IS going to madate another switch to 6.25 "narrow narrow band", we just dont know how long until they do that, 10 years, 15, maybe less.
So for the railroads to save money and headaches, they should just switch right to 6.25.
BTW, the only way to do 6.25 bandwidth is with some kind of digital format, NXDN or P25.

Thats technically incorrect.

You can achieve 6.25 with analog signal. However quality is degraded to a point where normal analog audio has trouble.

Well, you could use ACSB that sounds fairly good, but has other issues. ;)
