Are these the new P25 frequencies? I can almost see the NW-04 SAWS WINWOOD site from here.

What is the typical timeframe for sites to start being tested?? I have programmed in two sites and do not get a control channel. I do see the bars lite up but it is not locking on a channel. I'm assuming they are not "on" yet so to speak?? I programmed them manually on a 436hp as a P25 system.

I have all the sites programmed the same way in anticipation. What you are probably seeing is the activity on the EDACS system making the P25 frequencies look active to the 436. That is because many of the frequencies on the P25 licenses are still in use on EDACS until cutover begins in the future.

"blantonl,
It sounds like they might have spun up burn in carriers

Could you explain what those do??? I've never been near a ground up system build so I don't understand all that goes on. I missed both changovers in Kendall County so I'm looking forward to this system and learning more about the scanning world.

I don't know if covid has affected this timeline but here is a quote from the letter to the FCC from the radio network manager back in May of 2019. Looks like Aug 2021 the core system users will start to switch over. If that holds.

" Within five (5) years, AARRS will have all Simulcast Repeater Sites constructed, operational, and loaded. The actual stations should be constructed and operational within one to two years of license grant. Following authorization, the system will be constructed as follows, on or before the dates identified below. July 2020 Construct 28 Simulcast Sites – All stations constructed and ready for testing May 2021 Complete System Test and Validation – Perform extensive system performance and coverage verification testing Aug 2021 Transition AARRS Core Users to the new P25 System – Initial user transition will involve ~11,400 field units July 2022 Transition Additional Outside / Regional Agencies – Add additional ~1000 field units (24 frequencies returned) July 2023 Add Additional Regional Users, Enhance Interoperability – Add additional ~500 field units July 2024 Add Additional Regional Users, Enhance Interoperability – Add additional ~500 field units Total at the end of July 2024: 13,400 mobile/portable radios and control stations. "

Is that for existing SAUA system or the new Alamo P25? Seeing any talk groups yet?

It appears to be the new alamo system coming online, Northeast Simulcast, but it is on the SAUA system ID. I am entering the site into the database.

I have been monitoring it all day via my trunk recorder setup. I have constant control channel but it doesn't tune to anything so I am guessing it's not active but just running the CC?

I'm going to go ahead and change the name of SAUA system to AARRS and make a note that reflects that the 700 MHz sites are for interop overlay and the 800 MHz sites are for San Antonio / Bexar County.

Looks like things are moving along and they are bringing everything up. If I recall from some of the earlier planning docs, CPS is going to be the first user of the system.

Is the plan to leave the 700Mhz sites online for Interop?

They're a little behind not by much. If they're still sticking to their original timetable. Here were the first target dates from the letter I posted a few weeks ago in this thread. "July 2020 Construct 28 Simulcast Sites – All stations constructed and ready for testing May 2021" "August 2021 transition AARRS core users to the new P25 system"

The new SAUAI (AARRS) site replicates the frequencies and location of the EDACS site it looks like to me on the RR DB. Since EDACS and Moto control channels operate differently, as I understand it, they couldn't be broadcasting on both systems unless they separated the control and talk channels to not overlap from the radio management consoles. No?

Last I heard the SAUA system frequencies will either merge with the AARRS system or the SAUA will shut down once the new system is fully operational and all users have migrated. This was early on information so I don't what their final decision is.

Sorry to say this but the big "E"
all Talkgroups too
for this system is in action
say goodbye to monitoring

Is this just for new talkgroups you're seeing come online? I'd be surprised if they don't reuse alot of the TGIDs from SAUA. Are some of the SAUA talkgroups showing to be strapped with E?

Any new talkgroups I would expect to be CPS since they are migrating to this system from their iDAS system.
