I just moved to Virginia and I programmed the Chesterfield/Henrico/Richmond 800 Mhz. system into my PRO-2055 scanner. I haven't heard anything at all. I tried just trunking the analog frequencies but there was still nothing. I also tried not trunking them at all....still nothing. I was wondering if anyone knows if the FCC Rebanding has begun in this area yet. When I was here a couple weeks ago for a vacation, I programmed the frequencies into my non-trunking BC92XLT and I heard them just fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Richmond/Henrico/Chesterfield is a digital system. You'll need a digital scanner to hear anything but noise. (Neither the Pro-2055 nor the BC92XLT is digital.) And no, rebanding isn't happening in Virginia yet as far as I know. Hope this helps...

According to the RR Database, that system is both Digital and Analog so I should be able to hear the analog part of the system. Since part of it is analog, why aren't I hearing it???

The system is analog-capable (because it's not a true Project 25 system), but all the talkgroups identified on the system are digital. There's really nothing to listen to on the system with an analog scanner.

Thanks you very much Dave. So on the RR Database when it says A for analog next to the freq. that means the talk group is capable of being analog, but that doesnt me it is necessarily analog right?

If it says "A" for analog next to the talkgroup, that means the talkgroup is analog. If it says "D" next to the talkgroup, then it's a digital talkgroup. I've never seen a single talkgroup that uses digital sometimes and analog sometimes. But there are many systems which have both analog and digital talkgroups within the system. Hope this helps.

Chesterfield Fire/EMS simulcasts on 154.160...you can hear dispatch and routine traffic as well as minor incidents, howevwer if they go to a Tac, you loose them.
