"4 Whistler Scanner Models FCC OET Cleared (as of Apr 07, 2014) : As we covered here last fall, the Whistler "Radar Detector" folks have slurped up the rights to manufacture GRE's scanners. The WS1080 and WS1095 "Phase II" models are due out in the second quarter of 2014 (middle-late end of the year, or perhaps a bit later than that ? ) .

GRE "cloned" P25 Digital Models (also to be sold under RadioShack labels) :
- PSR-500 = Whistler WS1040 = RadioShack PRO-651 (FCC OET ID : HSXSC03)
- PSR-600 = Whistler WS1065 = RadioShack PRO-652 (FCC OET ID : HSXSC04)
- PSR-800 = Whistler WS1080 (TBA)
- PSR-900 = Whistler WS1095 (TBA)

GRE "cloned" Analog Models (also to be sold under RadioShack labels) :
- PSR-100 = Whistler WS1010 = RadioShack PRO-649 (FCC OET ID : HSXSC01)
- PSR-200U = Whistler WS1025 = RadioShack PRO-650 (FCC OET ID : HSXSC02)

I see from looking at the FCC ID labels , the country of manufacture with the new Whistler scanners is the Philippines (as you might remember is where Uniden made scanners and other products in the 80’s and 90’s).

The MAJOR down side to the "older" WS1040 and WS1065 digital models being brought back is they are (P25) Phase I ONLY stuff. Phase II is becoming more used on new systems and depending where you are, could be a problem later (maybe not now but perhaps down the road) ? So with any brand new P25 scanner purchase NOW , one should highly consider the Whistler WS1080 (old GRE PSR-800) or WS1095 (old GRE PSR-900) models that are due out in mid~late 2014 . (Updated : Apr 08)"
