PUBLIC DEMONSTRATION OF NEW APPLICATION SEARCH INTERFACE IN THE UNIVERSAL LICENSING SYSTEM WILL TAKE PLACE ON AUGUST 4, 2004 As part of a continuing effort to improve the license application process, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (WTB) announces it is currently redesigning the Application Search interface.

A public forum will be offered on August 4, 2004, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm for members of the public who are interested in viewing the work in progress and providing feedback. The demonstration will take place at the Washington, DC headquarters building, 445 Twelfth Street, S.W., in the Seventh Floor South Conference Room (Room 7-B516).

WTB requests that interested parties pre-register for the event by August 3, 2004. New Application Search Environment The new design of Application Search will resemble the Universal Licensing System’s (ULS) License Search.

The new Application Search in ULS provides enhanced system performance, added search criteria, increased accessibility in accordance with Section 508 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act, and compatibility with most major Web browsers and operating systems. In addition, the visual redesign offers greater convenience of use. The forum will include the
following:

• Core functionality of the new search interface

• Basic search by file number, call sign, FCC Registration Number (FRN), and applicant
name

• Advanced search by application status, application purpose, radio service code, applicant
information, and more

• Search results with links to individual application information

I'll bet it ends up looking a lot like the ULS License search (basic/advanced) that is in existance right now. I must admit that the present application search really sucks.

LOL I can see it now.. in ten years: The FCC leaves the US government as an enitity and becomes a private corporation as a subsidiary of Nextel Inc.

Well right now they share ownership with the BPL industry. Nextel will have to buy them out first.

The Nextel related comments are both hilarious  and sad :( at the same time, because it could happen....
