• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Has anyone tried a new license application on ULS recently? I am seeing serious problems on my end. I have a partially completed application where I cannot add a site. The system spins a busy disc on screen and tells me not to refresh the page. I have tried two browsers FireFox and Edge, both the latest for Win10. Cleared the cookies, restarted the computer etc. I did as an afterthought, install Java because the ULS recommends it. However I never installed Java previously and the site worked fine, slow but fine. Not sure the Java is even doing anything.

I have also experienced the site being really slow to respond. I tried chrome and edge browser and got the same result. Somedays it works better than other days.

I hope it perks up on Monday so I can finish off this application. It would be nice if the on line system actually followed the layout of the 601 and Schedules. So annoying to run into a random question like "is this site status P or S? and have to drill through the instruction forms to find it is like #20 on the Schedule D. I don't do these every day, so it is always the same learning curve.

I seem to remember weekends always being bad for the ULS website.

Weren't they named after Icelandic waterfalls?

uninstall it and find an older version
I used to rely on 6.31 as a great/stable version
How can I tell Java is or is not the problem, or is even working? Secondly I can open the previously saved and it works up to the point where I am to add a new, second site.

I haven't really done anything in there in a while, but are they still using Java? I thought they had gotten rid of that.

Java was previously required for adding/modifying licenses. They dumped that a few years ago and (mercifully) redid that portion of the system.

The fine print on one of the screens points to a broken link for Java.

Good question - I only added JAVA for a recent renewal, then (Disabled) removed it as I don't need it for most of my applications

ULS is back working. The help desk replied to my email this morning gave me usual stuff to try (clearing cache etc) that I had done previously. For giggles I simply logged back in and the system was working again. I am sure someone in IT dept unplugged and replugged the server this morning as the "paying customers" started complaining. They must get batched work on Friday that breaks the system over the weekend. Any way I am good with my efforts today. Need to proof it, send to the client and coordinator and then submit. Fingers crossed.

It likely had a leave request in for the weekend.

I filed an STA for the Denver grand prix in my Bearcom days. I was getting in the elevator after turning on the repeaters on the roof of the Staples center when my phone rang. I ignored it since the doors were closing.
Got off in the lobby and checked voice mail, it was the FCC asking for a call back.

I was thinking 'holy crap (or something else...) did someone complain about co channel already?', then called them back as requested.

It was a customer service rep following up on an email I sent about a problem with ULS a few weeks before, I had forgotten about it.
