If they were to get a TRS, it would cost tens of millions of dollars just for Manhattan alone because of all the high-rises. VHF signals generaly carry further than 800MhZ. They would need a lot of sites to get penetration into all of the buildings they would be going into. Also, they would need in-tower sites like they have in some high-rises now. 800MhZ simplex wouldn't have made it to the 60th floor of the World Trade Center towers. I live just north of Philadelphia, and if the wheather's good, I can pick up most of the boroughs. So naturally I don't want them going to a TRS either.
