I wasn't sure where to ask this but here goes.

My neighbor barbacues every night on his porch which is right next to my window. They are using a charcol BBQ it is about a foot away from the house, In new york city the law is that you can't use a charcol grill on a porch unless it is 10 feet from any structure or flammable material, plus even though I have a air condtioner in the window the smoke comes in and sometimes set off my smoke alarm. Where can I submit a complaint ?? If I talk to this clown it won't be a friendly talk and I don't want to go there.

NY's Bravest offer these summertime BBQ tips: Safe BBQing. There is some information on there.

As for who to contact, I would try the Fire Marshal's Office or Office of Fire Prevention for FDNY, and specifically the boro that you live in, if they're that specific.

Scandal : I did dial 3-1-1 and they were no help what so ever. First off i couldn't understand what the person was telling me, due to the person's really heavy russian accent.

Just walk into your local firehouse and ask for the officer on duty, then make your complaint. They will be the people that come out and inpect.
