FDNY ?

I have read about fdny switching to a trunked system. Will it be digital? How long until they switch? Anyother info? thanks

As of now there have been no rumors about FDNY switching over to trunked system...HOWEVER, there are rumors that they might switch over to UHF frequencies in the future. No idea when will that be happening though

By the way, FDNY currently has a trunked system in 800Mhz range, but that system is 99% administrative business, only chiefs and high ranked ones have access to it.

Didn't they already switch to UHF on the portable radios? Or are you saying they're also going to be switching the dispatch channel to UHF.

I think he's saying they will switch dispatch to UHF. I know they already use UHF portables for simplex fireground communications.
