Those 410 MHz NWS freqs are point-point link channels for the VHF NWR, usually used as a STL relay to take the broadcast from the NWS office to the VHF tower site.

DEA has pulled most if not all of their repeaters. Chances of hearing them are generally limited to simplex for surveillance. General ops are on Nextel, which I've confirmed.

That's odd, they still use several repeaters here.
Where are you at? We're speaking California here, mainly NorCal. It's what I was referencing.

I'm basically in Kansas City. As far as I know they still use the 418.900 and 418.625 repeaters. They were there a month or so ago but most of the activity is simplex channel 3.

What's up with the repeaters being abandonded? Is it possible they are still there or did they literally remove them and just forget it for nextel?

It wasn't all that long ago I heard someone link a repeater near here and call into St. Louis HQ. It seems crazy they would remove the whole system but then again it is the Fed. Govt.

I'm frequently in vaults for the major sites in the metro area and one in particular they just left an empty cabinet. They gutted most of it and left an empty encryption shelf there; the radio portion was completely yanked. So abandoned, yeap.

There may be one or two lone repeaters in the SF Bay Area but they're no longer used as myself and another check 406 often. Makes sense since why keep both? I also know a little more than the public does with regard to their Nextel usage/capability.

According to the 2006 GRS Monitors Guide,(Kelty's), avalable at Scannersunlimited
All those are listed but for the OBVIOUS reasons very few are in use..
except the low powered handhelds/mobiles...
I've heard them but I will NOT say where on ine or to anyone whom I dont know..
Not to rude or rash etc but
I fell that htses men and women are doing th best they can..
And wil NOT do ANYTHING I feel that may cause harm to them or thier investigations
Anyways
YEah they use em though...

they are using 400 mhz dea frequencies in simplex, i am not going to say which frequencies (for obvious reasons), but they are in use, and with significant power. my buddy in davis can pick up HANDHELDS AND air units.

it's not like it matters if i did post them, they're going after the big fish with small brains. you can routinely hear them say "ok, the moron is going back to xxx". and "ok, they've got the prostitute, and now numbnuts is going to take the target and go get some blow"

obviously they'll use the nextels on big fish with smarts.

No offense to the folks that said they wouldn't post the good freqs, but these are easily obtainable in many scanner books. You wouldn't be doing something that hasn't already been done.

Sides the Mil Air Band etc.
Of course keeping an open mind always helps as well...

I agree, but people that really want to listen should find the active ones themselves. It's part of the hobby. They're all in the wiki, and the database -- program them all in and start scanning. Some of them are active, some aren't.

No point in saying "I wont post them" -- but they are available if you search for them.
