What is on 167.8625 MHz PL 254.1 here in Birmingham? Heard half of a morse code ID earlier but I ran into it after reading this Forum and putting my pro651 on search limits 163-174 and running into this frequency

Generally that freq is a VA Hosp allocation
which would be interesting as the Birmingham VA is 406-420

Change your Search mode to 162-174 there is activity +/- the NWS Channels, so don't exlude them. ;)

170.8350 and 171.6650 would not be good frequencies.
As a rule of thumb the Federal Bands should be searched using the 12.5 Khz spacing

Thanks for the info.
Not sure if it is one or the other but I am hearing Encrypted traffic on 170.8350 or 170.8375.
Sounds like someone keying up a radio and saying a few words then I don't hear anything else for a while.
Thought it may be something related to USFS or LRC, just not sure at this point.
171.6650 is encrypted, it could have been 171.6675 it seems different for some reason on that one.
Not much traffic on either one.
155.265 P-25 Enc.seems to have quit transmitting, don't think it was a band opening find.
May have just been someone testing, didn't have a very good signal on it but I was picking it up fairly good.
I will try the other two posted and see if I can hear anything on them.

413.975 NAC 156 is some DEA comms from a helicopter. I say that with high confidence.

168.925 NAC167 & 168.825 NAC167 both have been very active lately, 99.8% of traffic is encrypted. From everything I have found it is FBI. I think I'm going to lock the 2 channels out cause I can not hear what there saying cause of the enc. 413.975 NAC156 (DEA) is a lot more interesting to listen to anyways.

170.8350

Using a Pro96, unable to adjust the Spacing it searches, or I havent figure a way to adjust it yet.

170.8350, not sure the correct Spacing but I am hearing it good on this freq.
This freq. was active on Wednesday, 06/04/15.
From what I heard it appears to be some type Law Enforcement.
I has been Transmitting every hour on the hour or a few minutes after the hour in Encrypted Mode.
Thought it may be a CW Id but the transmission is too short for that and I have never seen/heard a CW Id on these type freq.'s.
Clear and Encrypted traffic was heard in Calhoun County with units in or near Anniston.
It appears to be a repeater freq. (Output) but unknown where the repeater is located, possibly on Cheaha Mtn., just a guess.

I picked up a new one for the first time yesterday, 167.2125 NAC330. It was a prisoner transport from Coffee county to Montgomery county let a dispatcher know. Anyone have any idea who this is?

Side Note: I live just over 100 miles north of Montgomery and the signal was strong.

Rarely will you find a FEDERAL LE Agency with a Morse ID

Pro-96 - The RadioReference Wiki
5, 6.25, 7.5, 12.5kHz steps

According to the manual
137-174 can be adjusted to 5.0 Khz, 6.25 Khz and 7.5 Khz
so since 12.5 Khz / 2 = 6.25 use that.

170.8350 & 171.6650

Thanks for the info.
Update:
170.8350 or 8375 - P25 Repeater / NAC Unknown - Poss. FBI / P-25 Voice Traffic heard Last Wednesday.
Short Enc. transmission every hour on the hour or a few min.'s after.
171.6650 or 6675 - P25 Repeater / NAC Unknown - Poss. ICE / P25 Traffic heard Today-Monday
Both frequencies are being heard in N. Calhoun County with a strong signal.
Both freq.'s are running in Clear and Encrypted P25 Voice mode.
Possible repeater location, Cheaha Mtn. but just a guess.

168.925 Encrypted P25 Voice traffic heard Today-Monday.
FBI 168.9250, NAC 167 - from earlier post.

Not sure if a complete list exist of recently found VHF Fed freq.'s in Alabama but may be some one
can compile a list in a text file from all the ones found recently at least for 2015.
Possibly a separate list of the ones found each year until now.
I know there is quite a few from recent post but would be nice to have a complete list to look at if not already one listed somewhere.

170.8350 & 171.6650

Update:
171.6650 or 6625 - P25 Repeater / NAC Unknown
I rechecked this freq. and it appears to be closer to 171.6625 but hear it good on 171.6650.
Heard a lot of Key-ups lately, if anyone happens to catch the NAC please post it.

Looking but not finding much recent information on the CDP near Anniston. I have to spend a week there next month for school and plan on taking radios. Anyone know if they're still using the listed TRS?

Side question- is Alabama in July going to be warm?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA... I'm going to die....

Can't help you on the first question but on the 2nd one... July in Alabama... It will be HOT. Expect mid 90s. It will be HUMID. Expect 80-90% humidity. Expect heat indexes of 100-105. You are going sweat. Even if you are just walking from an air conditioned building to your car, you are going to sweat.

Even if you don't find anything for the CDP, there should still be stuff to listen to.
