How should I set this up with my PSR-500? As a P25 Auto or MOT VHF/UHF?

I have tried it both ways and heard zilch.......reckon it's the step & offset?

Hmm...It says P25 digital voice but I don't know...Are those even Arkansas frequencies because I thought the state prisons were on AWIN, I have heard them there before, As far as these frequency's go, I have never even heard of them so I haven't monitored them but I will now..If I come up with anything I'll let you know and hopefully someone else knows what to do.. I would assume it was P25 Digital Voice but like I said I'm not 100% sure on that...Maybe we'll luck out...Keep Searching, Good Scanning, More Later, Brian

All BoP systems so far are NOT P-25, but Motorola Type II, using P-25 voice channels. Which means that yes, you need the base, step and offset settings as a MOT VHF/UHF. Here are the particulars;

I live about 15 miles from this facility.....up Hwy 1 in Wynne. I know quite a few folks employed there as guards.

I had never put in the step & offset in there before as I thought it would "catch it" automatically. I'll have to ride down there one weekend and see what I can hear.

Happy Happy Joy Joy!

I "took the long way home" today and drove down to Forrest City to see if I could hear anything on the BoP System.

I parked at the sports complex to the east of the prison on old Hwy 1.

I determined the control channel is 407.012500. I could not hear any traffic though. I pulled out my laptop and looked at the CCDump with Win500 and so I could check & change setting easily.

I discovered an unsecure wi-fi connection and hooked up to RR. I found this thread about the new LRAFB TRS w/P25 voice. I entered the Lo & Hi channels as listed in that thread and I started hearing comms.

I kept my 500 on analyze as I drove home - north on Hwy 1 to Wynne. I lost signal halfway between Caldwell & Colt....at the bottom of Jake Taylor Hill (Crowley's Ridge)....with the ridge between me & the prison. I'd say 6 - 8 miles is max range of this system.

My next free weekend will be spent down yonders trying to ID talkgroups.

I have made a submission to add this to the database.
