Hi Guys,

I am relatively new to scanning. I bought an older Pro-97 and think it's great. I live in the New Haven area and was wondering if anyone had any frequencies for the Coast Guard, The Air National Guard (in Orange), DEA, FBI, ATF etc. My scanner will not get digital signals, so I don't know how much of a disadvantage that is (I know, no CSP). Right now I have lots of local towns like Orange, West Haven, Stratford, Shelton programmed in. It's a lot of fun listening. But, I did a bit of research and it seems like there are 30 channel the INS uses. Before I program a ton of stations, could you guys give me any hints..... should I program all the National frequencies? Or do you guys know which frequencies are the active ones. I hope that this request isn't too repetitive .... I did review the older posts, but didn't see too many posts on airforce, marine, coast guard, fbi, dea, atf, etc in CT.

Thanks!
Brian

I don't know about the ANG but the other federal agencies you listed are all going be digital and encrypted.

USCG uses marine channels like any other vessel. Channel 16 ad 22 are popular for them.

CT is still open territory for Fed Scanning, not much has been posted since the move to P25 for many of the Agencies.

I would urge spending the month checking

138-144, 148-150.8, 162-174, 406-420 Mhz
Make a list [PL, DPL, CSQ, P25 and NAC] then post back.

A few hints... around 5pm one of the Large Agencies does a Roll-Call
Mornings, you might find roll-Calls for some of the 3 letter agencies [based on my monitoring from other states] USCG tests on the normal VHF marine then switch to the assigned Sector channels [CG-xxx or NET-xxx] around 7am ish.

Also, the CAP, MARS, CG-Aux also run [varies] NETS on weekends or weeknights [6p-8p ish] and sunday mornings.

Post back what you find and many can probably help you ID who you are listening to.

A friendly hint: Don't Post Live Surv Ops [wait a week etc] :D

Thanks Guys!
I did find (on the internet) 2 frequencies for the ANG - Orange 141.8000 & 143.8000. I haven't heard anything on them yet. Also all the INS frequencies ( I put in like 30 of them ) don't seem to get any action. I guess they all moved to digital. Thanks for the tips on the frequencies to scan and the info on the USCG. If I come up with anything interesting, I'll post.

On a side note, I have been hearing conversations on 151.400. Does anyone know who this might be. Sorry, it's all the info I have

Just about anything worth listening to is the greater New Haven and Bridgeport areas is digital and sometimes encrypted. You can get USPS trucks on 165.625 (DPL 023) with a lot of profanity, the VA Hospital engineering in West Haven is on 408.2375 (DPL 152) and 409.4375 (DPL 155). I have also heard activity on 410.650 (DPL 411), sounds like building maintenance of some sort, not sure if it's something in the area or across the sound on LI.

The CG has also been using the channels listed in the WIKI [LMR]
in the 162-174 Band, up-n-down the Coast.
