I'm monitoring the following set of federal gov't freqs in L.A. but not having any luck. I'm getting signals from many of them, and I seem to be getting enough to get audio, but all I get is dead air or static. I've tried them on FM, WFM and NFM. One freq hit said there was a LNK in there as well. The freqs are probably encrypted to some extent anyhow but I'm not even hearing any of that. No P25 hits either. What gives? Thx.

I am actually suprised at the level of traffic that I have been able to find in the 163(4)-174. I can get quite a bit of federal traffic and most of its all in the clear. A few of the FBI repeaters are encrypted, but its often to hear one or more of the agents not have the option enabled and you get to hear a portion of the converstation, this is also true for many DEA comms. The freqofnature site has a good list of the federal frequencies here in Southern California.

Thanks. These freqs came from the current Scannerstuff directory. I left off the tags as it'd just add more clutter. My 796 gives 1-6 bars for sig strength. I usually can get at least some audio with a single bar. These freqs are giving me 2-3 bars and stay keyed for random time intervals. It seems something's there... -Rod-
